The Call by E. Clough

Strange day, somehow. Bird hits the window. Butterfly clings to my sleeve. Sun flashes off bright chrome, splitting my thoughts. Voice in my ear from behind. Then, the phone rang at 4 AM.

  1. I like the staccato of thought and "the phone rang at 4am" coming at the end instead of the beginning.

Like the pathos and implied conflict in yours.

  4. I like that this whole thing feels like flashes, sharp. Almost like a dream. Or like flashbacks at the start of a book, which is going to be all about what was put in motion by that 4am call.
    Really good.
    Came from the Trifextra linkup.

  5. Each image feels like a small impact, thud thud thud, until that final jar of 'the phone rang at 4AM'. Well done.

    1. Thank you. Your page, so different from here. No buses for 150 miles. However, long ago,I did want to chuck a rock, thru a bank window. My husband shoved me in the car...

  8. Yes, strange. Or, just reality, and we all usually see only illusion.
I like the flow of your Bumblebee Chronicles. Evelyn
